Are You A SuperFan?
This long weekend is the inaugural “SuperFan ComicCon” which is being held Saturday, Sunday, and holiday Monday at the Better Living Center on the CNE grounds. The hours run from 10 am til 7pm, but only til 6 on Monday.
What is there to do? Besides the normal variety of vendors, there will be panels and exhibitions. In addition there will be wrestling performances three times a day by Smash Wrestling. Watch them at noon, 2pm and 4pm daily.
Try out video games and board games – including the classic Duck Hunt – highest score over the weekend will win prizes!
Are you a fan of Sailor Moon? Don’t miss several cast members talking about how to break into voice acting. Listen to the voices of Sailor Moon (Linda Ballantyne), Tuxedo Mask (Toby Proctor), Sailor Mars (Katie Griffin), Sailor Jupiter (Susan Roman) and their Voice Director, John Stocker.
If art is your thing, there will be panels all three days on “Making it!” Or catch readings by Canadians writers of science fiction, dark fantasy, and humour. (Sunday and Monday)
Cosplayers! Not only will there be a Cosplay 101 panel on Saturday, but also a fabulous contest in association with the website Shelflife.net. Drop by the Hall of Heroes booth and upload your picture of your costume. If it garners enough votes you can win up to $500 and site credits. There’s also a separate contest for Cosplayers who are under 12.
Cosplayers use many materials to create their costumes, so why not learn about thermalplastics and 3D printers with a Sunday panel with Stephen Burke.
There are other attractions, including the Ontario Ghostbusters and their eight foot tall Stay Puft man. Or chat with Brampton Batman and see the 1989/92 Batmobile. If you perfer television cars, check out Knight Industry Two Thousand (KITT) better known as Knight Rider.
