A Jem and the Holograms Live Action Movie is On It’s Way!
G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘s Jon M. Chu announced on Thursday via YouTube that he will direct a live action version of Jem and the Holograms, which is based on Hasbro’s cult animated series from the 1980s.
Naturally my first thought, upon finding out that this is the same director who also directed TWO Justin Bieber documentaries, was…
In the video, Chu was joined by producer Jason Blum and Scooter Braun, the music manager who represents Justin Bieber; and asked fans for help in the creative process of making the film. Including asking fans what they love about the original Jem and the Hologram series, cosplay pictures and even auditioning to be a part of the movie by sending them a clip of them singing/dancing/acting.
The premise for Jem and the Holograms live action movie revolve around the social media age and will follow an orphan teenage girl who becomes an internet singing sensation that sends her and her sisters on a music-driven scavenger hunt.
A script has been written by Ryan Landels and they’re hoping to start production this spring.
