13 Cosplays to Get You Thrilled for Halloween

For most people, Halloween is that time of the year to let your freak flag fly and go out carousing in wacky, daring outfits. For cosplayers, it’s a Tuesday. And when it comes to bringing some spooks, these cosplayers don’t screw around.

1. Pyramid Head

Because hey, let’s go ahead and get the obvious dealt with first, right? Many nerds have attempted to re-create this iconic nightmare fuel character, but few have done so with the dedication and finesse of cosplayer CreativeGuy. To see more, check out his website Visit Silent Hill, which lovingly reenacts scenes from Silent Hill 2 and recreates it’s costumes and props right down to the jarring PlayStation 2-quality graphics.

2. Zoey, Francis, Louis and Bill

One of the things that makes Left 4 Dead a memorable game is its portrayal of how honest-to-god fucked up an actual zombie apocalypse would be. Here, the consistently awesome Meagan Marie and friends dress the part of the survivor team from the first game, and somehow manage to still look badass while being eviscerated by a Witch.

3. Jill Valentine & Chris Redfield

I think it’s nice that in Resident Evil 5, Wesker at least gave Jill a makeover to make up for the fact that he held her hostage and brainwashed her. For all his faults, he’s a very fashion-forward villain. Here we can marvel at cosplay couple Ammie and Jay vogue-ing it as the classic Capcom duo.

4. White Walker

Not to be confused with Walter White, these supernatural beasts from Game of Thrones are the stuff of soiled underpants. Actual wizard and Instructables member Rex Rothwell gives us a run down on how he recreated the beast for fun and cosplay and also probably traumatizing small children. Even better is how easily this cosplay works for both Halloween and Christmas. Very practical!

5. Saya Takagi

Anime series are sometimes prone to having incredibly bizarre, non-sequitor titles for series, but you have to appreciate something like High School of the Dead. It is exactly what it says on the tin. Here we have the lovely S-Lancaster showing her appreciation for the series with a great Saya cosplay and some very dynamic photography!

6. Alien and Predator

Alien-Predator-Cosplay-1

Kept you waiting for this one, huh? UK-based cosplayers PedroTPredator and Abi-T-Xeno have joined forces to get some incredible photo ops of the classic Alien (or if you prefer, Xenomorph) and Predator engaging in hilarious, nerdgasm-inducing activities like, say, HANGING OUT ON THE IRON THRONE. If that doesn’t please you, you’re impossible.

7. Twisted Cinderella

For the past few years, artist Jeftoon01 has been producing a line of fanart called ‘Twisted Princess’, in which the stories of Disney’s animated films are re-told to have grotesque outcomes in place of the usual happily-ever-after fare. And if there’s a will, cosplayers will find a way, which is exactly what Kimba Sprite Cosplay managed to do. P- please don’t feast on my immortal soul, Cinder-relly…

8. Lady Gaga

If you think back to a simpler, happier time before Mother Monster appropriated the burqa for no reason, she had some pretty cool, albeit frightening outfits. A memorable ensemble was her suit and tie ensemble from the Born This Way video, complete with skeletal body paint: get a load of Black & Nobo Cosplay strutting their stuff in a fabulous recreation of the costumes and makeup from the video!

9. Nina Sayers/The Black Swan

Photographer IcedSoul found a fabulously creepy model to re-create the climax of the ballet thriller film. All of the glamour and glitz of ballet, with – hopefully – less of the crazy and utter discomfort of the actual movie. We hope.

10. Queen Akasha

But seriously, folks. It’s impossible to portray a vampire for either acting or cosplaying purposes and not look 100 times sexier, and women brave enough to try Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned are no exception, like cosplayer VertigoVendetta‘s great job here. Step aside, Marceline, and make room for the original vampire queen.

11. Emily the Corpse Bride

Time for the necessary Tim Burton-related addition! If only Tim Burton still made movies this good. We don’t talk about Dark Shadows, folks. But instead, let’s talk about the great modelling, makeup, photography and overall amazing attention to detail on NatalieCartman‘s Corpse Bride and Victor.

12. Maria Renard & Alucard

Honestly, Castlevania cosplay takes a lot of courage to even attempt what with all the insane detail work and tailoring on any one of the costumes, let alone tackling two of the series’ most well-known characters. And here, cosplay couple Elysium Sans make me want to run around old architecture with a chain with melodramatic theme music.

13. Shadow Link

This childhood-defining video game antagonist reminds us all that getting down with your bad side can sometimes be a good thing. Cosplayer Yaphi looks like he’s got a busy schedule of haunting Hyrule, and his gorgeously-crafted sword and shield are icing on the cake. Plus, after facing the worst of Tumblr-style Social Justice in March of this year for his cosplay and dealing with it like a champion, this guy is definitely the hero the internet deserves.

Hopefully, these awesome cosplayers have given you some inspiration for Halloween costumes!
