No Star Trek for you, Toronto!

Toronto Star Trek fans wanna know… WHERE THE HELL IS OUR 9 MINUTE PREVIEW? Once again, Toronto gets shafted from seeing the first 9 minutes of the new Star Trek movie, Into Darkness.

You may remember this happening with the last Star Trek film. Paramount promised a preview of the reboot before the screening of  Quantum of Solace, but Toronto was left out.

Rumor has it that Scotiabank theatre does not have the “ability” to play the preview because apparently, the IMAX screens are not “true” IMAX or something equally ridiculous.

I don’t understand why they can’t just show it in another theatre instead of cutting us off completely. I guess Toronto Star Trek fans are not important. After all,  it’s not like we have our own Star Trek Day TO or anything…

Whatever the reason, this all sounds very flimsy to me. As my friend (and biggest Trek fan I know) pointed out, “The Cinesphere is the first ever permanent IMAX theatre. I think we know how to build them.”
Better yet, why not screen Into Darkness at the Cinesphere! I challenge anyone to pick a more appropriate venue than that. *Fantasizes flying through space in a giant, pointy sphere*

Dreamy, impossible, dream world aside, if anyone knows the real reason behind this, please let us know.
Or maybe we should just ask Paramount what the deal is?

If you’re lucky enough to live in the ‘burbs or have a car, you can check the official site to find out where you can see the elusive, 9 min preview of Star Trek: Into Darkness or head out to Colossus Vaughn.
