FanExpo 2012 - Live From the G33KPRON Booth!

Fan Expo Canada 2012 has come to a close! We’ve been documenting our tales from the trenches from our home-base at booth L56. We’ll still have updates coming in as we gather our pictures from the con and we’ll link to the extended coverage as it comes. Make sure you check back often for updates.

We want to thank everyone who stopped by our booth, said hi, came to the party, organized the panels and everyone who made Fan Expo 2012 a great time!

Sunday:

5…something or other-pm: Finally winding down. We’re the last booth out of our row about to walk out of a strangely empty convention center. Until next time!

5:00pm: The show is officially over and crowds are pouring out of Hall G as we prepare to tear down the booth. The end of a 4-day g33k extravaganza, sad that it’s over but wow we are tired at the end of this!

4:30pm: Master Chief photo achievement unlocked. Megan met an amazing Master Chief on the floor. Day made.

3:30pm: Megan & Sara head off to scope the convention floor one more time before the end of the show.

3:00pm: Jess, Megan and Sara are off to get an exclusive interview with the amazing Nelsan Ellis (True Blood).

2:55: The Nerdy Stripper has arrived at the booth with a thigh freshly signed by the one and only Stan Lee. That’s getting tattooed on there!

1:50pm: Jess has taken off to the “Trios Presents: How Independents & Free Thinkers Are Changing the Game Industry” and Sara is off to the “WGC Presents: Todd & the Book of Pure Evil” panel.

1:00pm: Sara has returned from the Barrowman panel high on the excitement of an incredibly animated, musical, and thought provoking Q&A. Barrowman is a true entertainer and has just charmed the pants of the entire convention (only a slight exaggeration).

12:10pm: Have you seen Vera walking around today? You really should. She’s been around the booth and all over the convention floor. Pics to follow.

12:05pm: Jess returned from the “History of Video Games” panel completely thrilled with the direction the panel took in the last 15 minutes. Where are all the women in video games? Good question. Look for more in Jess’s write up coming next week.

12:00pm: Sara has just dashed off into the John Barrowman Q&A in Hall G right across from our booth. Can’t wait to hear more from that panel.

11:50am: Sara returned to the booth after the CTV screening of Arrow. She’s cautiously optimistic, worth giving it a shot. A few tid bits from the Q&A with the cast; in the episodes so far there have been five DC Universe characters introduced and in the sixth episode other DC Universe cities will be mentioned by name.

11:45am: Megan, our resident gamingg33k has arrived and is about to hit the floor in search of some coveted cards and perhaps a Master Chief sighting.

11:29am: We’re back after a fun night out with some Fan Expo friends popping by Nerd Noise at the Elmo then about town. Man, what a crazy con this has been. We’ve met so many incredible people and tons of new friends. There’s rumours that we may be doing some exclusive True Blood interviews, but that might have been the booze talkin’ hehe. More news to come!

10:50am: Jess heads out to the “History of Videogames” panel with Syd Bolton, Victor Lucas & Scott Jones

Saturday:
9:00pm – Finally done and getting ready to hit some other after-parties tonight. The Nerdy Stripper is dancing at Subspace Fetish night, and there’s also the Nerd Noise Night at the El Mocambo. We lost internet connectivity at the event for a bit. Such bad reception! Don’t worry though we’ll be doing full posts on all the stuff we’ve heard in the panels.

4:41pm – Stan Lee waved at me! (and i just about died). Skaii did the 25dates for fun and Sara is off covering a multitude of panels while Megan met Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette on True Blood). Jess is counting down the minutes to get home to start officially playing Guild Wars 2.

2:53pm – So I’m charging my laptop here by what I thought was the 25dates.com line but turns out it’s for John Barrowman and Norman Reedus hahaha.

10:00am – We’re back at FanExpo after one hell of a kick off party that included Toronto Batman, Bowmanitis, Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery and Alan Tudyk! Needless to say we’re all super tired but completely stoked that we had such an incredible turnout. Stay tuned for an additional post with all the party pics.

Friday:
2:00am – Prizes all handed out. Time for bed!

1:15am – Ok, dubstep Mario nakedness – I’ve officially seen it all and it is good 🙂 Our lil Skaii Walker did it again! Fantastic show!

11:30pm – Wow, The Nerdy Stripper’s set was unreal. I’ll never look at Captain America the same.

11:15pm – Holy shit Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery and Alan Tudyk are here at our party!

7:02pm – So there’s rumours of some very special VIP celeb guests coming tonight too! Think Walking Dead and Boondock Saints 😉 Not gonna lie, I’m a little nervous!

6:35pm – Con is winding down but there’s still some panels left like Jay and Silent Bob. We’re starting to pack up to get ready for the party. There’s rumours of very special VIP celebs coming!

5:36pm – Just made the rounds to chat with Fearless Fred and J Scott Campbell in Artist Alley. There’s some amazing stuff here! Oh wait, a Guyver costume. BRB! Pics galore.

3:30pm – Sara & Laura just returned to the G33K Booth from the Jamie Bamber Q&A. He was just as charming as you probably imagined. Look for a full recap later this weekend.

2:27pm – Jess is hanging with Scott and Victor from EP Daily/Reviews on the Run and this line for the Levar Burton QA is insane! Holy crap, the Emperor Dalek just rolled by!

1:00pm – Impromptu lightsaber battles happening in front of us.

12:50pm – There’s a geek wedding happening directly across from us in 10 minutes! Pics to follow!

12:25pm – Just saw Stan Lee, John Barrowman, James Marsters, John Carpenter, Christopher Lloyd, Chris Sarandon, Sean Patrick Flannery, Julie Benz, Norman Reedus, and Jamie Bamber. Hope they come to the party!

11:53am – We get a visit from George from Silver Snail and Sally Christensen of Yarn of Dispair

11:24am – Spotted Bane dancing at Just Dance 4 booth, Effie Trinket and Cesar Flickerman and Stan Lee, no big deal.

10:45am – all settled in and setup. Damn cat freaked out on us this morning as she didn’t recognize us in costume! People are LOVING our Cubeworks displays! The convention is slowly filling up with cool costumes. Now, coffee.
