Remember ALF? He’s Back…In MOVIE Form!

Everyone remembers ALF. Well…everyone should, anyway. Our childhood televisions were once graced with the hilarious, cat-eating adventures of Melmac’s very own Gordon Shumway, a.k.a. ALF, and his adoptive Earthling family, the Tanners. It was aired from 1986-1990 (I suddenly feel really old), and I don’t know a single person who doesn’t miss it.

Well, our silent prayers (and some not so silent, as I’ve noticed with one of my ALF-obsessed friends) have been answered, because THE FILM RIGHTS HAVE BEEN PICKED UP. We’re greenlit for an ALF movie, people.

Sony Pictures, along with Jordan Kerner (who produced that totally obscure show The Smurfs), are joining up with ALF’s original creator Tom Pratchett, and also the man who provided his voice and movement, puppeteer Paul Fusco.

Having such key people working on the film gives me a real good feeling about this. Even though it is going to contain both puppeteering as well as CGI (think Ted), this might end up being really great. If anything, it will introduce an entirely new generation to one of the best things about the 80s.

Here’s the theme song because yes.
