WATCH: Extended Preview of JJ Abrams’ “Revolution”

The Olympic-sized extended preview of JJ Abrams’ produced sci-fi drama Revolution premiered tonight on NBC during the prime-time Olympic coverage. What happens when every piece of technology on Earth suddenly stops working? Electricity mysteriously ceases to exist? Revolution  picks up fifteen years after this world-changing event takes place following the survivors as they navigate the new world order, including the militia as they aim to stay together, stay alive, and maybe even get the world back on track.

If the talent behind Revolution is any indication this series it not to be missed. Backed by JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Revolution comes from the mind of creator Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and the pilot is directed by Jon Favreau (the Iron Man films) and the cast includes the brilliant Giancarlo Esposito fresh off his stint as the terrifying drug kingpin Gustavo Fring on Breaking Bad and Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost).

Check out a longer look at the new post-apocalyptic/western style TV series beyond the jump:

Revolution premieres Monday September 17th at 10pm. Will you be watching?

Gonna give it a try, but looks to have the same downfall of every sci-fi and post apocalypse show we’ve seen in last decade or so. After the first episode or two the setting and plot all seem to take a complete back seat to the same hum drum, predictable, lackluster human drama you could expect from 7th Heaven or Party of Five. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a good story with three dimensional characters, but please try to balance it with the plot.
