Guild Wars 2 Final Beta Weekend.

This past weekend was the final Guild Wars 2 open beta test, and I got my hands on the newest races; intellectual giants, the Asura, and the human-plant hybrid, Sylvari.

Asura

I only had a few hours with the Asuran race but I can already tell they are gonna be a personal favorite.

Obsessed with perfection, technology, and alchemy, the most coveted weapon among this race is their genius. The Asuran can think their way out of any situation and if they can’t fix the problem, they’ll build something that can.

With a fine tuned recipe of invention, intellect, and arrogance, this subterranean race and their army of mechanized Golems dominate the Tarnished Coast while the rest of Tyria enjoys the conveniences of Asuran tech.

Sylvari

I spent most of the weekend playing the Sylvari race. Since they’ve only been around for 25 years, the Sylvari storyline and starting town have an entirely different feel from the other races. Their homeworld is covered in lush and Jurassic sized vegetation. When coupled with multilevel maps the aesthetic is stunning, but can make navigating the terrain difficult.

Character creation for this race dished out some really interesting looking avatars. The variety of dye options and attention to detail allow players to create one-of-a-kind characters adding yet another level of role play to your personal storyline.

I’ll definitely be playing this race when the game launches on Aug 28th.
