5 Questions With School Damage
Pop Punk isn’t dead, it’s busy being irresponsible and getting wasted according to Toronto miscreants, School Damage. With a six song demo and a handful of rowdy shows under their belts, I thought I would check in with singer and guitarist, Brad Manners to run our 5 questions by. Here’s what he had to say:
GEEKPR0N: Describe your musical style in 140 characters or less.
Brad Manners: Punk Rock incorporating hooks & melodies into 4 chords. Like the Buzzcocks or the Dils but not as good. “Ramones Worship” but what punk band isn’t?
If your band could have any superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it?
BM: The ability to make money while being in a band. I would pay my rent.
Who would be on the bill of your dream tour; dead, alive or fictional?
BM: I personally would love to be on a bill with the Replacements during their early days because I’d like to have a drink with Bob Stinson while his band plays a set without him because he’s too busy getting liquored up.
Star Trek or Star Wars?
BM: Star Wars by far. The Star Trek saga never interested me. I always found it so boring. I used to have a roommate who would sit on the couch and watch that shit for hours and it annoyed me. I kind of have a hate on for it, actually. I grew up in the 80’s so Star Wars was everywhere. I just watched the Star Wars trilogy about a month ago but ever try to sit through a Star Trek movie? Fuck that. Although George Takei seems like a pretty rad dude.
What have you been up to lately and what can we look forward to coming up from School Damage?
BM: At the moment we’re putting the finishing touches on our new E.P. which will be out in April on My Fingers! My Brain! Records. Then in late April through mid May, we’ll be on a tour of the East Coast of Canada with our buds Brutal Youth where we’ll be going as far as Newfoundland and back. When we get back from that we’ll be writing songs and recording for a split while maintaining some sort of friendship.
School Damage is Brad Manners on vocals/guitar, Jon Cabatan on bass/vocals and Jeff Robertson on drums. You can get their EP titled, ‘Demo. Or EP.’ by giving them an email at [email protected] or by going to their Myspace page.
