“28 Months Later” Possibly In Development

Zombies have been catapulted to the top of the genre chain in the last bunch of years thanks to countless movies, tv shows and graphic novels. I was always a huge zombie fan, but zombie stuff was a lot more scarce back in the day so it was really exciting when something new came out. These days, zombies are up there with vampires as the most over done horror. George Romero is obviously the KING of the undead, but it was Danny Boyle’s British zombie flick “28 Days Later” that really relaunched the genre in 2002.

No more of those slow moving zombies – this movie was the first to feature fast moving scary as hell rage zombies. It took movie goers by storm – even the ones that weren’t avid horror watchers and was super successful especially for an independent movie. The sequel, “28 Weeks Later” came five years later and wasn’t well received though in it’s defence I thought it wasn’t half bad. Sure, it wasn’t as good as the first one, but I thought the opening scene in particular was scary as hell. I remember seeing it at the drive in and thinking it was really effective.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but Danny Boyle did in the past express interest in making it a trilogy. They are simply in talks to decide if it’s even worth doing and if there’s a viable and strong story to be told. It is however confirmed that if this happens it will be “Months” not “Years” in the future. I feel they’re doing that to keep the possibility of a fourth instalment open and why not, you know people will most likely check it out.

So keep your ear to the ground for this – I wouldn’t expect it any time soon but at least we know there’s a possiblity. I for one would give it a shot.
